Conversations on Food
Conversations on Food is all about people—connecting, sharing stories, and discovering culture through the universal language of food. It’s a space where food is more than just a meal; it’s a sensory experience, an avenue to explore memories, traditions, and the richness of our diverse backgrounds. At its heart, Conversations on Food is about building community and learning from each other through shared meals and meaningful conversation.

The idea behind Conversations on Food took shape long before 2020, but it truly came to fruition during that year. Founded by Flora Macaulay in August 2020, the initiative was born from her deep appreciation for cultural diversity and her curiosity about food’s power to connect people. A seasoned Head of Creative, Brand, and Communication, Flora noticed a gap in the food space: while large brands often invited big names, those who truly understood food, often without a label, were being overlooked. As Flora says, “I didn’t find what I was looking for—a space where people could connect, share, and discover food culture at a deeper level.” And so, Conversations on Food became a platform to amplify those voices, offering a space where anyone could share their knowledge and passion for food.

What began as a virtual gathering on Zoom soon blossomed into something more. As the initiative grew, it evolved into a dynamic supper club and a thriving platform for connection. The format is conversational and informal, but deeply meaningful, designed to bring people together to explore lesser-known food cultures while celebrating the universal joy of food. The focus is on discovering our shared humanity through food, celebrating the things that unite us in our diversity.

Today, Conversations on Food continues to flourish offline, with a small but engaged community on WhatsApp for regulars. It remains a space for people to connect, discover, and celebrate food—building bridges, sharing stories, and deepening our understanding of each other through the joy of a shared meal.
